Hospitals and Institutions
The Hospitals and Institutions (H&I) subcommittee of Narcotics Anonymous plays a vital role in bringing recovery to individuals who cannot attend regular NA meetings due to institutionalization. By coordinating panels and literature distribution in hospitals, jails, treatment centers, and detox units, the subcommittee helps ensure that the message of recovery is accessible to those who need it most. This outreach provides hope and connection to individuals who may otherwise feel isolated in their addiction.
In the geographic area it serves, the H&I subcommittee strengthens the local recovery community by building bridges between institutions and NA groups. It fosters cooperation with facility administrators while maintaining NA’s traditions, and helps create opportunities for ongoing support once individuals are released. These efforts not only assist individuals in finding recovery, but also contribute to public health and safety by supporting sustained abstinence and community reintegration.
